In Israel, the Tenth of Tevet not only marks the day on which the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem began, but is also considered “the Day of General Kaddish”, a memorial day enabling people to say kaddish for those whose date or place of death is unknown – primarily people who were murdered in the Holocaust.
Ohr Torah Stone’s institutions marked the day with meaningful ceremonies, discussion circles and meetings with survivors of the Shoah. Pictured: girls from Ulpanat Neveh Channah heard the moving first-person testimony of Holocaust survivor Sarah Goodman, the grandmother of current student Renana Shankolowski.
