OTS is proud to be able to say that many of our students and parents, teachers and administrative staff are doing all that they can to offer relief, safety and comfort in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, each in his or her own way.
Many have adopted people who have been deemed at-risk, making sure to call them and provide them with an attentive ear. Others have donned latex gloves and (figuratively) rolled up their sleeves to shop, put together care packages or deliver hot meals to the elderly and isolated.
Still others, like OTS biology teacher Dr. Mazal Byalsky Elnekaveh, are suiting up in full protective gear in order to give of their time and expertise. Rather than staying home with her family in her hometown of Tekoa, Elnekaveh, who teaches at both OTS Derech Avot and OTS Oriya high schools, has been spending her days volunteering with the corona lab team at Shaare Zedek Medical Center. As such, she is not only helping fight the pandemic from the front lines, she is also serving as a shining example to all of our students of what social responsibility looks like.
