This week’s Photo of the Week is a beit midrash snapshot of Aliza Kahan (right), a student in Midreshet Lindenbaum‘s Maria and Joel Finkle Overseas Program, studying in chavruta with Tehilla Carl of the seminary’s Elaine and Norm Brodsky Darkaynu Program.

“As a Shana Aleph student at Midreshet Lindenbaum, I have the opportunity to have a chavruta with a student from the Darkaynu Program,” Aliza explains. “Darkaynu is a truly unique facet to Lindenbaum and their program emphasizes the importance of Jewish women learning Torah despite their different abilities. My chavruta Tehilla and I have started learning the Melachot of Shabbat and are also exploring a book about Middot and character development. I love learning with Tehilla because she is passionate and motivated to grow in her devotion to Judaism. Although we only just started, I already feel a connection to her and feel that learning with her is enhancing my seminary experience greatly.”
