Ninth graders at OTS’s Neveh Channah Girls’ High School, Named in Memory of Anna Ehrman, undertook – of their own initiative – a fundraising campaign in memory of Lieutenant Yuval Heiman, a graduate of OTS from Efrat who was killed in action during Operation Protective Edge.
The students were moved to build the campaign after learning of several families in the area who had trouble making ends meet, and dedicated their tzedakah to Heiman in light of their personal connection through their teacher, Moriah Heiman Glick – Yuval’s aunt (pictured, far right).
Reaching first into their own pockets and then raising donations from their family and acquaintances, the ninth graders were able to raise the respectable sum of 23,000 NIS, which was used to buy vouchers for shopping at the Rami Levy chain.
At the conclusion of the campaign, the students received a certificate of appreciation from the chairman of the Gush Etzion religious council, Rabbi Rafi Ostroff (center, right), and the chairman of the Gush Etzion Mutual Aid Foundation, Gabi Rosenfeld (center, left).
