At the conclusion of last week’s IDF Officer Training Course, these two soldiers, alumnae of Midreshet Lindenbaum‘s Claudia Cohen Torah/Army School (Hadas), received their new ranks and and Intelligence Corps officers’ pins. They joined 15 other young women from last year’s Hadas class now serving as officers within the framework of Hadas – an extraordinary program enabling women to join the military strengthened by a year of intense Torah study before their service, and by a strong backbone of visits and support during the course of their service.
In the coming weeks, an additional four women from the same class will be graduating Officer Training Course as well. To have 21 IDF and IAF officers emanating from one class of 100 is a tremendous honor for Hadas, showcasing the high quality of our students, their motivation and their dedication. In fact, more than 20% of Hadas students become officers, and 30% sign on as career soldiers in the Education Corps, Intelligence Corps, Commando Intelligence or the Air Force.
Hadas Director Rabbi Ohad Teharlev says, “Each of these students is an example of excellence and they prove time and again that the Torah study and military service are not mutually exclusive. Alongside their intense devotion to their significant positions in the military, they set aside time for learning, participating consistently in our weekly shiurim and meetings on base. They are serious and dedicated and they contribute tremendously to the security of Am Yisrael in Eretz Yisrael.”
