Israelis embark upon a period of National days after Pesach, beginning with Holocaust Remembrance Day and continuing with Memorial Day and Independence Day one week later. The transition from somber days of personal bereavement and national mourning to the unbridled celebration of Yom Haatzmaut creates an intense, emotionally charged mood throughout the entire country.
The 32 Yachad Program Jewish Cultural Facilitators working in 80 Community Centers across the country harness the special poignancy and energy that characterize these days to further strengthen community ties, build bridges, teach about national responsibility and develop Jewish identity and heritage awareness. They work hard to make sure that the saying “Never Again!” is imbued with meaning as the country remembers six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, and empower Israelis of all ages and backgrounds to explore the connection between memory and life, past and future, nation and State through events and dialogue which impart the legacy of our national history from Holocaust to renewal, from exile to independence.
