OTS has created specially-condensed, machzorim (prayer books) for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur to respond to the health and logistic challenges posed by COVID-19.
Throughout Jewish history and tradition, the prayer service of the high holidays has been defined by a desire to connect between the Jewish people and God. But when circumstance makes this challenging, such as in this time of pandemic, Jewish law requires us to condense the service so as to prioritize health and safety while still focusing on the core halakhic, spiritual and liturgical priorities of the prayer services.
