Tell us about the community you’re in:
The community is relatively small, with about a hundred families. One of the unique things about the community is the fact that 100% of the Jewish children in the city attend the local Jewish school. Rabbi Pini leads, in study and practice, the Jewish aspect of community life. Rebbetzin Renana initiates and partners in organizing events and routine community activities.
What did you receive from the Straus-Amiel Educational Emissary Training Progam and the Claudia Cohen Women Educator Institute?
We have been given the ability to humbly look at the picture of world Jewry, to find our place in it and the desire to act within it.
What message would you like to impart regarding shlichut?
We understand that right now, in the time of COVID, the intesity and power of community activities stems from and is based on yearning. We hope to be able to apply this important lesson to preserve what exists and channel the strengths we have discovered both in ourselves and in the community into meaningful future activity.
