Midreshet Lindenbaum Alumnae Receive President’s Award for Outstanding Soldiers

May 14, 2024 – Yom Haatzmaut

Ohr Torah Stone salutes two alumnae who received the prestigious Outstanding Soldier Award today, Yom Haatzmaut 2024, from Israeli President Isaac Herzog and IDF Chief of General Staffs Hertzi Halevi, in recognition of their significant service in the IDF and their extraordinary contribution to the country – especially during this extremely challenging year.

Staff Sgt M., a graduate of our Midreshet Lindenbaum Overseas Program, is a lone soldier from the USA serving in the IDF’s special “Sky Riders” unit. Because of the nature of the elite drones unit, M’s full name and photo is not authorized for publication.

Lieutenant Nomi Cohen, an alumna of Midreshet Lindenbaum’s Matat branch in Carmiel, is a Bereavement Officer in the Tank Corps, tasked with notifying families of fallen soldiers and remaining in contact with them for the funeral, week of mourning and beyond.

Each year, the 120 “Mitztaynei Hanasi” –  the President’s Outstanding soldiers – receive their awards at a special ceremony at the President’s House on Yom Haatzmaut and OTS is proud that our alumni are amongst those awarded the coveted honor every single year.

“M and Nomi are stellar young women who is serving the State of Israel at the highest of levels,” relates Rabbi Ohad Teharlev, director of the Israeli programs and Midreshet Lindenbaum who continues to visit and learn Torah with enlisted alumnae on their bases across the country. “Over 350 Midreshet Lindenbaum alumnae are serving right now in significant positions in the IDF. They are incredibly dedicated and highly motivated, and they are sanctifying God’s name every day.”
