Orthodox Women as Spiritual Leaders: Yes or No? A Conversation with Rabbi Dr. Kenneth Brander
On the backdrop of the recent recommendation by Israel’s Attorney General that women should be allowed to sit for examinations equal to rabbinical exams for men, the threatening response of the Chief Rabbinate, and the recent graduation of OTS’ Susi Bradfield Women’s Institute of Halakhic Leadership (WIHL), Rabbi Scott Kahn invited OTS President and Rosh HaYeshiva Rabbi Kenneth Brander to his “Orthodox Conundrum” podcast. They had a frank discussion about the role of women in Modern Orthodoxy, and the roles that women can – and should – play in communal spiritual leadership.
