The Ohr Torah Stone community in Israel and around the world is shocked and horrified by the senseless murder of worshipers at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh on Shabbat. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the innocent victims and we extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded and their loved ones.
We stand confounded by yet another heinous, hate-filled act of violence – this time in a house of worship, the very place where people should feel uplifted and safe. But we stand together, in solidarity with the Tree of Life Synagogue and with the entire Pittsburgh community.
Kol Yisrael areivim zeh bazeh – All Jews are responsible for one another. We stand united in times of grief and in times of sorrow; we must stand united in the fight against bigotry and violence, and we will remain united as the community builds toward recovery and strength.
To the Tree of Life congregation and the people of Pittsburgh: You are not alone. Know that millions of people of all faiths are with you in your time of need.
May God open the wellsprings of strength and resilience to you, our brothers and sisters, during this time of enormous sorrow and pain.
May we merit in this generation to bring an end to baseless hatred and racism.
Am Yisrael Chai.
